Adhere to Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance with this emergency first aid at work training course.
Emergency first aid at work provides you with the skills regarded by the HSE as important for the workplace. Completion of this course means you will be a certified first aider. You will then be able to deal with minor illnesses and injuries as well as choking and CPR.
The one-day first aid course is ideal for low risk businesses such as offices and shops. Although, it is also suitable for those assisting with first aid requirements in higher risk organisations.
Over the course, candidates will learn a variety of techniques. These include performing CPR, assessing an incident scene and treating burns and seizures. The full course content is:
- The roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- Contents of the first aid kit
- Incident reporting
- Scene, primary and secondary surveys (assessing the incident)
- The recovery position
- Dealing with unresponsive casualties
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Abdominal Thrusts
- Treatment of wounds
Assessment and Certification
Candidates are assessed during each practical activity. At the end of the course candidates will complete a multiple choice question paper. Each candidate must successfully complete both elements to pass the course.
On passing the emergency first aid course each candidate will receive a certificate. These certificates are accredited through Highfield Qualifications and are valid for 3 years. After this the course must be retaken.
Who needs emergency first aid training?
Emergency first aid is ideal for any sized company. It particularly suits low risk businesses that need first aiders. Your company first aid requirements should be visible from your risk assessments.
