National Water Hygiene
Card (Blue Card)
The mandatory EUSR qualification for anyone working on the UK's clean water network. One-day course delivered at our Boroughbridge training centre, serving Yorkshire and the North of England.
Who Needs the Blue Card?
The National Water Hygiene Card is a mandatory requirement for any operative accessing potable water assets on behalf of UK water companies. Without a valid Blue Card, you cannot legally access restricted clean water sites.
Required by: Yorkshire Water, Anglian Water, Severn Trent, United Utilities, Thames Water, Northumbrian Water, and all other major UK water companies.
What You'll Learn
- Understand EUSR Blue Book principles and water hygiene standards
- Identify risks of waterborne diseases and contamination pathways
- Apply correct PPE, footwear, and personal hygiene requirements
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment to prevent cross-contamination
- Handle chemicals, fuels, and lubricants safely near potable water
- Complete health screening and fitness-to-work requirements
- Comply with all major water company site access requirements
No Blue Card = No Site Access
Water companies conduct random checks on operatives. Working without a valid EUSR Blue Card risks site ban, contract termination, and puts public health at risk. Ensure your whole team is covered before starting any water network work.
